Thanksgiving 2011

Happy Thanksgiving all!  I can hardly believe we have already had Thanksgiving this year - it's officially time for CHRISTMAS!!  What a FUN time of year - now here's to remembering the reason for the Season.  I pray to NOT get wrapped up in the hustle bustle of the holidays and to relax, be calm, enjoy family and friends, and remember what it's all about.

For Thanksgiving Matt usually runs the half marathon in Atlanta, so we stay home which is so nice, although we do miss our family and friends on SSI.

Yesterday we woke up early and watched matt finish his run, then Libby got to run in the Gravy Gallop - and she even got a medal!  We had SO much fun watching her run and get another glimpse of how she & Matt will probably run together on day.  She was so cute in her tshirt and bib number!  Matt did his personal best, too - he ran 13 miles in 1 hour 39 minutes.  INSANE!

After the race we went to friends houses (the Poole's) for a delicious lunch with their family.  It was a beautiful day full of love and thanks!  I always get so nostalgic around Thanksgiving remembering my childhood, it was such a normal, fun, happy childhood with both of my parents and all of my siblings.  We always went to Grannys house in Baxley, then to my Mema's house.  Every Friday after Thanksgiving there was a lot of shopping, my mom would go with Mema and Aunt Laurie, and my sweet cousin Kristen and my siblings and I would stay home with Papa and my Dad.   I always did my Christmas cards on this day, and we just all enjoyed being together.  We also celebrated Papa and Kristen's birthday so we were just all together and having fun. I pray that Matt & I will continue to make memories for our own children that will last them a lifetime!! That is what life is all about - family.  We are thankful for ours, that is for sure, (though things are so different now, and we are all so spread out) and we love that we have created our own special family with our two daughters!  To God be the Glory!!

Here are some pics from our Thanksgiving 2011.  Love to all and we missed you guys!!

Halloween Weekend 2011

what a FUN weekend we have had at the certain house!  it was so incredibly busy, i am just now sitting down in a silent house and relaxing or the first time since last wednesday morning.  life has just been nonstop and full of fun for us all!  so far, the girls have been UGA cheerleaders, princesses, and minnie mouse.  the original costumes that i bought were minnie mouse, but who knows what they will end up wearing for the actual trick or treating!

wednesday morning i went to libby's school and the other room mom and i helped carve pumpkins, and i also helped libby bake cupcakes for the classmates.  wednesday night was trunk or treat at the baptist church where libby and maggie mae went to school for a few months.  they dressed as cheerleaders for this one.  here are some pics:
HOOO wants a cupcake? ha.

pictures....

Here are a few pix from my phone that have been taken lately - as you can see, the girls are growing fast!!

I just love pix of them sleeping, so soundly.

35!

thirty five....whoa.  i'm THIRTY FIVE- HOW???!!

guess i'm in my mid 30's now, so hard to believe.  i could either be insanely freaked out OR write about 35 things i'm thankful for.  obvi, i am choosing the latter.  so i did that, wrote them all in my journal which i'll give to my darling daughters one day.  hope they understand that the main things i am forever thankful for are the two of them.  life really started for me the day i became a mom.

i also wrote a list of 35 things i want to do this year.  i won't bore you with all of those - but trust me, i am glad i have the full year to accomplish what is on my list!

my awesome husband took us all to the ritz at lake oconee for the weekend!  we had SO MUCH fun!!

here are a few pix!!

libby's best buddy brookie cookie was actually there for the entire weekend, too!  her mom's bday is three days before mine. they were THRILLED and we so enjoyed spending time with their family!!

she says...

some words that my little mags can say today ...

cheese - pronounced cheeth - said usually while holding my iPhone and smiling or running to the fridge

mommy

daaaaa

she calls libby "mine" - pronounced maaaa

ball

up

no

yes pronounced yeth

and oh boy does she shake her head for Yes and No, she is really dramatic and adorable about it.

she is getting so big, and smart!  i love seeing her mind work.  she does everything libby does.  they both have stools that they carry around the house so they can reach everything.  it is so funny.  they brush their teeth together, on their stools, they come to the pantry and look for snacks together, on their stools, they watch tv shows together (well, maggie mae watches it for like 4 minutes) and she will stand like libby with her hands under her chin leaning on the table.

she is so happy and fun - and loves to laugh, she'll throw her head back and crack up!

they sit together at a little table with two little chairs for snacks and coloring, and it makes me so happy to see them interact like that.

she loves shoes and already has a strong opinion about what she wears and which shoes.  honestly, never seen anything like it.  so cute!

it's hard to believe she'll be 17 months next week.  what a big girl!

best part of my day...

by far was this: the girls and i were in libby's bed getting ready to go to sleep and i turned off the light.  libby immediately starts her prayer:

"thank you God, for soccer, for my barbie dream house, for my daddy, for maggie mae, for mommy, for my new purple necklace, for our food, for our car, for my toes, for our legs and our ears, and for our books, amen"

seriously....it really made me smile and stop and pray over both of them - it is my utmost calling to teach them to love God above all else, and to show them Christ's love through my actions.

Ephesians 5:15 - Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.

it is my prayer that my daughters will see matt and i and learn that God is the center of our marriage, and of our lives - without Him we are truly lost.

and, her prayer really reiterated that she LOVES SOCCER!!  What a fun afternoon we had watching her play in her first soccer game.  and um, don't think i've ever seen a prouder daddy in the world than matt.  as a big soccer stud himself (for real, i used to watch him play in high school!!) - he was so happy to be on the field with his libby.  she was a natural - honestly, she was good.  we've been playing in the front yard a lot, just kicking and dribbling around, and she really learned how to not pick it up with her hands, which was her first reaction.  she didn't do that once yesterday!  and also, the coach had them all in a circle around him before the game started, and he asked "is it ok to take the ball from the other team?" and libby screamed "YES!" and another little boy answered "look at those flowers over there" - it was hilarious.  there are six players on a team, and we are looking forward to the season!  GO KIDDIE KICKERS!!!

Mags and I had a great time watching - she toddles around, searching for food and snacks and sippy cups with straws, and chasing a ball around trying to get on the field with her big sis!!

happy fall, y'all!

OH and an important note - my baby brother is getting married this weekend!!  it's going to be SO MUCH FUN!  so happy for garrison and lindsey.  it means so much to have so many special family and friends making the drive up to atlanta to celebrate his special day.

15 Month Checkup

Little Mae Mae had her 15 month doctor appointment yesterday and it went well!  She is a hoss!  23 pounds, in the 90th percentile for height and weight.  She's doing just great and we're obviously very thankful!  She is a funny happy wonderful delightful baby - she loves to hug, loves to kiss, and be kissed, and loves to laugh.  However, she does have a temper.  She very quickly will let you know when she's mad or sad or angry.  Gone are the days of big sister taking a toy from her and her being quiet about it. Today she threw a book at Libby and then flung herself on the ground and screamed and kicked her feet. Oh boy oh boy....we have a lot of fun in our future with these two monkey girls.  She has a sweet little disposition and it's SO MUCH fun to see her blossoming into a little girl.  I miss the baby stage, uh oh I totally will have baby fever - and soon, I'm afraid.  She is just so big acting.  She is really into coloring and doing anything that Libby does.  We start Mommy and Me swim classes next week and I'm really looking forward to doing that with her.  We went to the splash park today with some friends and Margaret absolutely loved it.  She is a tough little girl - and very loud.  She shows no fear, just loves to jump right in and do things.  Incredibly independent, and kind of just does her own thing.  But she still loves her Mama and Daddy - and at the end of the day, she's always gonna be our baby girl.  They both are, regardless of how much they are growing up so fast right before our eyes.  Climbing trees together, swinging together, see sawing together, and today Libby said to me, "mommy, mae mae is really getting big, she is almost talking to me and I love to play with her" - and ummmm yes, that is music to this mama's ears!!  It seriously doesn't get any better than that, don't you agree?  Little M is also trying to potty train.....Libby is 100% potty trained (GO LIBBY LOU!!!) and every time she goes, Mae Mae wants to.  So, we put her on the potty and she sits there, and tries it, but so far, it's just sitting there.  We'll see how this progresses.  My friend told me that in Korea where she is from, babies potty train at 12 months, and breastfeed til 24 months.  So, maybe we have it all backwards here!!!  Yes, I am still nursing Margaret.  I know, I know, it's time to wean (some may say) - I'm thinking that maybe she'll tire of it and I won't have to??
