Four Marathons and counting!

This past weekend we traveled to Birmingham, Alabama for Matt to run in his fourth marathon.  SOOO PROUD!

We got there Saturday, and Grand'Om Marsha met us there.  It was SO special having her there, and from now on I am requesting that she comes to all future marathons. :)   We had a great time.

Only downer: It was SOO COLD.  Like, not fun cold.  Don't know how those runners did it.

Saturday night we went to my wonderful friends house - Kate. Kate is one of the MOST special people in the world to me.  Our friendship began in 1996 and although we don't see each other very often, she is so unbelievably special to me!  We went to her house for dinner - her husband and her three boys fed us awesome pasta, salad and dessert.  We had a great night and it was so great to see her!  I miss her so much, and it really makes me thank God for friendships like that - those that are based on God's love.  She is truly my sister in Christ and I loved seeing her family!  I'm holding out for one of my girls to marry one of her boys!

Sunday Matt woke up early and hit the trails - girls and I had breakfast and met Marsha down in the lobby then proceeded to run around the streets in the cold looking for Matt. Ha, not really - but it was so cold it felt like that!  We decided he'd be very pleased to see us at the finish line so we did that, and when he saw us he grabbed Libby (Margaret was asleep on my chest at this point) and finished the race with Libby!  SO awesome.  He did great and ran a great race.  I'm so proud of him.

Now, Margaret has that yucky cough and I had a fever all night - praying we don't all get sicker and can get past this winter bug she and I seem to have, and crossing our fingers that Libby, Matt and Marsha stay well!

Here's to a great run by Matt - we love you and are so proud of you.

best part of my day...

today was a good day - girls and i didn't do anything special, really, just hung out at home and had loads of park time.  always a good day in my book.

sweetest moment: putting girls to bed, we lay in libby's bed, read books,  and say our prayers.  we say what we are thankful for, and then lights out and i sing a few songs.  libby twirls her hair when she is going to sleep, always has since she was really little.  well, tonight, libby played with her hair, and fell asleep within like four minutes of the lights being turned off.  after she fell asleep, i told margaret that it was time for her to go night night too.  she said "sissy" about eighteen times, and tried to wake libby up, and then i said sissy was asleep so she proceeded to sweetly start twirling libby's hair.  and that is how she fell asleep...playing with her big sister's hair.  i mean, seriously.  does it get any better than that? i think not.  i was so touched by that - little mae is so in love with libby - and libby loves and protects her very much too.  don't get me wrong.  there are times when matt and i are the referee between these two girls, and there are moments when i see a look in libby's eyes that are saying "MOM AND DAD WHHHHYYYY DID YOU HAVE ANOTHER BABY!??" ( i should know this look well, since my parents said that every time they brought yet another baby home from the hospital i went into a state of depression, haha).  but at the end of the day, they love each other and they are truly best friends.  today at the park, mae was playing with a  little car, and some little boy came up and grabbed it from her.  she just sat there and didn't do anything to get it back and within two seconds libby was telling that little boy that it wasn't nice that he took her baby sister's toy from her, so she got it back and delivered it to "her maemae" and said "don't worry my mae mae big sister is here to help you" - HOW PRESH!!!!

ok, so maybe there were two favorite parts of my day, today.  :)

happy groundhog day!!!!!!  bring on spring!

My LIBBY LOU!!

two little love bugs...

February is here.

and i have a confession to make....i have always always always loathed valentines day.  totally made fun of the entire idea of this "hallmark day".

until now.  i am finding myself buying pink heart plates.  bowls with pink and red hearts and swirls on it.  a red tablecloth with white hearts.  trying to plan a date night with matt and me, and then another night for matt, the girls and me.  OHMYGOODNESS i surrender.  i am now a fan. i am now celebrating this day - my friends who know me best will not even believe it.  but,  there's a whole lotta love in my life.

i gotta say....i am excited that it is february and the month of love love love. :)))    i am so ridiculous.  thankful and ridiculous.... :)))
