Back to Work

Sadly, my maternity leave ended this week. I have been so anxious about it, and nervous and sad and scared and to be quite honest, dreadfully anticipating having to leave our Libby and return to work. I have been thinking about it since I had her and brought her home from the hospital. I never imagined I would want to be a stay at home mommy, but after having Libby, from the first second I knew I wanted nothing more than to stay home with her!! However, that is not in the cards for us at this time, so I sent out prayer requests to people (even awesome cousins all the way in Serbia!) asking for their prayers that I would somehow manage to go back. It's funny-you spend your life, at least in your 20's, building your career and climbing up the ladder at work, promotions, raises, and growing your professional relationships. Then BAM! You hold your seven pound baby girl and all of a sudden, the only earthly relationship that matters is the one you have with that baby, and your new family.
We have prayerfully and happily found someone to take care of Libby while we are working, a Christian woman who loves babies and whom I know is the perfect one for Libby. I was speaking with my Grandmother and just telling her about the interview before we hired her, and she asked what the lady's name was. I told her, and heard her writing it down. She said, "Honey, I'm going to put her name on the prayer list at church, and I am going to pray that THIS is THE one that God wants in your home" - and of course, I cried at the simple sweetness that I felt from her.

And we are so very happy with our decision. It has only been two days, and I have cried both days backing out of the driveway. But God has given me a strong peace which cannot be denied or fought, and I am thankful for that. Matt and I feel extremely blessed by the person we found, and know in our hearts that it was meant to be.

Here she is -this is what I came home to this afternoon. Sleeping soundly in her bassinet.
The blue shirt? It's what I slept in last night. Every day I leave what I sleep in, and she cuddles it and slobbers on it and puts it in her mouth. It's one of the many ways we will stay connected throughout the day!

Game Night

For the Georgia/Alabama game we went to the Odegard's so Max & Libby could have a date! These pictures are so funny to me. They were both lying there and their hands and feet and legs just fly all around, so cute! They are both so smart and alert - such a joy to see them together.

Lots of pictures now so that we can show them how precious they were when they were just a few months old. Very fun night, even though the Dawgs lost.

Two Month Doctor's Visit

Well, Libby had her two month visit today. She was in the 75th% for height, weight, and head circumference, so obviously she really is growing like a weed. Mom has done a great job feeding her everything she needs.  So, she is not only growing fast, but outgrowing where she would normally be expected to grow.

The visit went well, and we came home and filmed a few videos with the camera. Here, we are hanging out before bed. As you can see, she is now holding her head up, smiling, and tracking people really well. Enjoy!

A few pictures

Ok, here are a few pictures that we wanted to upload and share with the family. So, the past week has been great; Libby turned 2 months old and she continues to grow like a weed. The pictures below were all taken during a few recent outings and a few nights at home.

I'll try to throw a little backdrop with each picture. So, without further ado, here's Libby...

Her mother hates to hear this but she absolutely loves her Dad. This picture was taken after I walked up and started talking to her. It's so funny when she is just hanging out and I walk in the room after work, and she recognizes me. Honestly, she has that look on her face like, "Hey! I know you! You're Daddy!!"

Here, she's a little confused by the camera but loves being held and just hanging out with her parents.

This is another episode of smiling with her Daddy. She has that look like she just doesn't know what to expect.

Yep, heading out for a car ride. She loves the car rides; they are like bear tranquilizers. They hit her and she is out. Out for the count.

Here's Mom and Libby on the back porch. This was taken before heading out for a little dinner on the town. As you may notice, Libby is wearing her finest overall dress. And, yes, they lasted about 45 minutes before they irritated the heck out of her.

And finally, the pouty lip. Hilarious, we should let our families vote about where she got this...

An Oldie but a Goodie

I was browsing through some of Libby's old movies and came across this video from when she was two weeks old. I really was amazed at how much she has grown and changed. So, here is a little video from 6 weeks ago.
